ADRIA DRIFT SERIES 2016 RD5: NIGHT SHIFT RESULTS

Krško [SLO] – October 1, 2016 – Adria Drift Series returned to Krško, this time for the final fight of the season. Drivers put it all on the line in their chase for the championship under the spotlights of Raceland with our first night race.

Igor Tabak was the man who dominated for the second time this season by putting together a perfect score with a top spot in qualifications and a race win, but this unfortunately wasn’t enough to beat Uroš Berdajs for the title fight as Uroš finished second.

“Coming back on Raceland and having an event here is always nice, but having a night event, that was just beyond special! When night fell down and the lights turned on it was like the whole new world came to life.” said Drey, General Manager of the Adria Drift Series. “Yes, it was quite a hustle this year, but at the end what we have managed this season is insane, a very first indoor event in this part of Europe in Split, a night race here in Krško, having five drivers at the last race fighting for the championship… Crazy. Congratulations to Uroš Berdajs and his team for the second title, congrats also to Igor Tabak for the runner-up title and last but not least congrats to really talented and perspective driver Miloš Djordjević on the Rookie of the year award.”

A little bit changed configuration of clipping points on the layout caused quite a lot of struggle to some drivers, but top six qualifiers were separated only by two points, with Tabak on the top followed by Berdajs, Kauderer, Stergar, Djordjević and Barle.

Going into the twin battles was like a walk in the park for Igor Tabak all the way to the finals, where he met his rival for the title Uroš Berdjas, who on the other side had a bit tougher way to the finals. Battle for third and fourth was all about one more times between Aleš Pogačar and Domagoj Begič. Pogačar was doing a good job through the whole day, as Begić was struggling in the practice runs, but was getting better and better trough battles. Last run of last one more time, Begić had some technical issues starting his car, called five minutes that weren’t enough, so Pogačar took his five minutes for him so they could proceed into that last run. A really nice gentleman gesture then cost him the third place as he spun before the finish line, but got him an “Avto Magazin – Moment of the Race” award.
