2017 RD1 THE TAKE OFF RESULTS

The first event of the Adria Drift Series season, the RD1 – THE TAKE OFF, was held on 1st of May at Tazsár Airport Base in Hungary. This time competitors started the drift with much higher entry speed into a fast left turn, which closed in double S and ended with another fast and long left turn.

As we expected the battles among 21 drifters from Austria, Serbia, Croatia, Hungary and Slovenia were very tight. Unfortunately, only 16 cars made it to the qualifications and only 15 entered the race.

The qualification runs itself were already very tense and interesting to watch. With a lot of smoke and some very fast runs Csaba, Kauderer and Podboršek senior announced their appetites for the top positions before twin battles. The TOP16 battles started really good for all the top three qualifiers, but going into the GREAT8 things went into the opposite direction firstly for Matjaž Podboršek who lost to Zoltan Zango Jr. In FINAL4 Clemens Kauderer lost his pace and Attila Nyitrai went to the final round facing his fellow countryman Simon Csaba who was on fire whole day long.

It’s needless to say the battles were very intense and almost equal. The judges really had to make some tough choices. At the end the victory went into Csaba's hands, Nyitrai was second, Zango third and Kauderer, who also got the prize Tokić Moment of the Race, was fourth.

We also have to mention Matjaž Podboršek who continues his good pace from last season and Djordjević who is still struggling a bit with his new car. The last year's champion Uroš Berdajs was eliminated in TOP16. Seems like he really has to make his new car work. Or he might just had a bad day?

"A totally new and refreshing location for Adria Drift Series, especially when it comes to layout setup. The drivers were experiencing a much faster entry speeds than usuall which at first lead to quite some problems for them, but once they got comfortable and removed that “brake” in their minds we could enjoy fast and full of smoke runs." said Drey, the General Manager of the Adria Drift Series. “We had quite some Hungarian drivers in last season and they showed us that it’s worth to bring competition to their country and I’m super happy that we did so and looking at the results they sure have quite some talented drivers with fast cars.” He continued.

The visitors also had the opportunity to watch interesting drag races on the parallel runway of the Air Base. Moreover, we also have to mention some great cars from the Show'n'Shine area.

Round 1: THE TAKE OFF event results

The next event of the Adria Drift Series, RD2 – THROWDOWN, will be held on 4. June at Krško's Raceland.
